Research interests Mostly related to biogeochemistry and Quaternary climate variations. I also have an interest in understanding the development and evolution of volcanic systems. I have a special interest in using the so-called "non-traditionnal" stable isotopes like Zn, Cu or Fe to understand various biogeological systems, especially micronutrients transfers between soils and plants and within plants. I also use U-series for both paleoclimate (North Atlantic, Equatorial Pacific) and volcanological (Mount Erebus, Crozet) applications. My main interests are: the reconstruction of past variations in the intensity of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) using (231Pa/230Th)xs,0, the reconstruction of paleo-fluxes using 230Th-normalization. I also use Pb isotopes to trace the variations in the origins of dust in the Equatorial Pacific (e.g. Pichat et al., 2014). - August 2003 - December 2004: Marie Curie Research Associate Isotopes and the environment group (Prof. Gideon Henderson), Department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford, U.K. - Septembre 2003 - August 2004: guest investigator Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (Dr. Ken Sims), Woods Hole, MA, USA New Mexico Tech MEVO (Prof. Ph. Kyle) and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (Dr. K. Sims), USA - November 2001 - July 2003: postdoc at the Max Planck Institut for Chemistry, Dept of Geochemistry (Prof. Dr. Al Hofmann, Drs W. Abouchami and S. Galer), Mainz, Germany PhD in

I'm in charge of the Master of the Département de Sciences de la Terre (ENS Lyon - University Lyon 1) I'm teaching ca. 200h/year in various subjects of Earth Sciences. I'm also in charge of 6 U.E. (teaching units): - Cartographie et méthodes de terrain (L3) - Field mapping - Sismique en mer (L3) - Methods of seismology at sea. Blog of the research/student cruises MAGIRAA - Actualités et synthèses en Sciences de la Terre (M1) - News in Earth Sciences - Océanographie (M1) - Oceanography - Analyses élémentaires et isotopiques (M1) - Elemental and isotopic analyses in Earth Sciences - Experimentations en géochimie (M1) - Geochemical experimentation and applications in the lab I also give lectures at the: - Dept of Biology (The cycle of micronutrients between soils and plants) - Dept of Physics (Geochemistry and paleoclimatology) - "Préparation à l'agrégation" (Atmosphere and Oceans; Quaternary paleoclimates) - Open university program of the Université Lyon 1 (The time in Geology) I've also been teaching during the 4 years of my PhD. I gave 24h/year lectures in physical oceanography and I also lead field trips with students from the former Magistère of Earth Sciences. - Summary of my lectures (in french) - Pictures from a field trip in the Corbières/Pyrenees area (September 1999). |
